Rectal temperatures lag behind changes in core body temperature, so they are not always a reliable indicator. What is forehead temperature?
Forehead temperature is the same as the arterial blood supply under the skin. It is the easy way to determinate of body temperature

How to use forehead temperature properly?
Gently touch probe to center of forehead.
Make sure to remove anything covering the area to be measured. Otherwise, it would insulate the area , resulting in falsely readings.

Why we state forehead is the best position for body temperature measurement?
When body temperature goes up or down, body adjusts its temperature form brain at first.
Forehead temperature measurement is easy and safe, especially good for active children.

The important concept of estimating body temperature.
The normal value of body temperature is a range, not an invariable value. Everybody has own data range. The temperature would change according to the age, gender, time, activity, and emotion. People with different ages would have different temperatures; even the temperature of the different time in the same day would be different. For example, the children's temperatures would be 0.5C higher than the adults' and most of people have a lower temperature during sleep, and the temperature goes higher at daytime.
Different parts of body would have different results. Normally, the rectal temperature would be 0.3C higher than mouth temperature, and mouth temperature would be 0.3C - 0.5C higher than the temperature of armpit. In order to master yourself and your family's normal temperature, you can measure the temperature in different time for 3 or 4 days when you are healthy. After mastering the temperature range of your family, you can record them and compare them with the temperature in case of fever in the future.
