Indications

-->My son always got bitten by mossies, which will cause him to scratch non stop at the bites. I have tried so many creams on him but still after applying he scratches. I tried this cream on him n he did not scratch as much. Just last night I got bitten by a mossie n immediately I applied After Bite n viola~ did not even feel the itchy after that! No more nasty scars!

-->I can't say enough about this product. We bought the After Bite Kids and the adults even used it. Apply it immediately after being bit by a mosquito and it takes the itch away and it doesn't come back...or if it does, then apply again and that's about it. No more whining kiddos saying they're itchy!

-->This has been an excellent product for my daughter. When she gets mosquito bites, two days later she develops large hives, and has intense itching. If we treat the bites within the first 24 hours, she can avoid the hives and itching. What a relief!

-->I used this for my 4 year old son all last summer and I think it works pretty good. However, I did notice that he will complain of itching after a few hours so I usually wash the mosquito bite, dry it, and reapply it. I think it would be great if it lasted longer but all in all it is mostly effective in helping with bug bites. I did notice that if you reapply it on the same spot over and over without washing the area first, it gets kind a chalky build-up on the skin and isn't as effective. I would recommend using it knowing you should wash the area before reapplying a second time for maximum results.

Easy for Children to Use

->We bought the Tag for our four-year-old's birthday, and she loves it! Her attention span for any kind of toy isn't the longest, but she has no trouble "reading" the story to herself with the Tag "pen." (And for those who are wondering, she still wants us to read to her at bedtime.) It remains to be seen whether the Tag can help her learn to sight read earlier than usual, but for now keeping her interested in books and interacting with them on her own, is enough for me.

->The TAG was very helpful for my girls as they began to read stories and recognize words by sight. Leapfrog has an extensive library of books, so there's lots of variety to choose from, with characters the kids recognize (Dora, Diego, Spongebob, etc), as well as kid's classics like "Cat In The Hat" and "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom".
I also appreciate that there are many "levels" of exploration with this toy. The child can use the pen alone, and listen to all of the audio for all stories downloaded to the pen just by pressing a button. The TAG will cycle through all of the stories. The books themselves are also multi-dimensional: You can just read the story, or you can play the games embedded in the books and earn rewards on the Leap Path website. My girls also like to explore the books, and place the pen on the pictures of the characters themselves - Leapfrog has embedded some cute dialog as well. For instance, when reading the Spongebob book, if you place your pen on Spongebob's face, he'll say something funny related to the story.

The LeapPath website allows parents to drill down into each book the child has read, total minutes the child spent exploring the story, and cool info on what skills the child is building.

->My daughter has been using the Tag Reader (normal, not jr) since Christmas 2008, 3 months before her 3rd birthday. She LOVES it!! I prefer to keep computer games out of her hands, so this is a great alternative! This interactive book helps teach kids how to read and recognize words. A little on the pricey side, but well worth it. Your little one will have a blast touching the pages with his/her Tag and hearing the story played through the pen. There are also a ton of other tid-bits buried in these books: games, reading assistants, the actual character voices.

->My 2.5 & 4 year old got these for Christmas. They started wanting to read more and more and the book really helps. The two year old took a little time to get it, but he has caught on. Many of the books have the nice game features at the end that add to reading comprehension, but don't involve having to read the story. They make the same books entertaining over and over again.

->I have two boys, ages 3 1/2 and just turned 6, and they got two Tag systems for Christmas. We also got them some additional books, and they received more books from relatives. Currently they have the Cat in the Hat that came with it, Star Wars, T-Rex's Mighty Roar, Bakugan, Up, and Cars' Tractor Tipping.

We have the old leap pad - it was handed down to us - but it's not as easy to use, it requires a child to sit at a table to use it, and you have to have the cartridge in just right for it to work. This is so much better and more portable. We gave the boys sets of headphones for the car, and they take it with them everywhere. Since Christmas I doubt a day has gone by where they are not "reading" one of the books. My 3 year old needed no instruction, just figured it out. He loves T-Rex's Mighty Roar in particular, and though I got Bakugan for his older brother, he "reads" it too. He's memorized nearly all of the books.

It only takes 2 AA batteries, works very well. We keep the whole system plus the two pens in a small backpack to keep it neat.

We don't allow our kids to play video games or go on the computer so this was a big deal for us - we didn't want a toy where they are getting a lot of screen time or zoning out. This is truly an educational toy that they love and learn from.

->This is by far the greatest thing I have ever received for my son. I love it! It has opened his eyes and mind to learning. He has letter recognition down, but actually putting the letters together and making words was our next step. This was a surprise present, and one I now recommend and buy for others! I was a little hesistant with the tip, but it seams to hold up to my son's roughness.

->I was a little skeptical of this when my husband bought it for our 5 year old for Christmas 2009. But wow...I'm converted. Our son is in kindergarten and learning to read, and this is really motivating him. We used to have the old leap frog system with the crappy paper spiral books. These are so much better. You get actual hardback books. So even if you don't use the leapfrog pen, you still have a nice book to put on your shelf. And there are some good books in the series, including two Dr. Seuss classics.

->I am such a fan of Leap Frog, and this system does not disappoint. We've been using it for about three months now, and my kids absolutely love it. It is so easy to use! My 2-year old can actually handle it quite well, especially after watching her older brother with his. It's easy to grip and navigate around the pages. Each page also has several modes - you can read specific words, an entire phrase, or press specific objects in the book for sound effects. The library of 30+ books that go with this system is also nice - we have six of the books so far, and after three months my kids are still actively participating in reading each one. The best part about this specific Tag is the increased memory, which is a big plus as your child accumulates more than five books.

->My son received this book for Christmas, and he absolutely loves it! It's all about a little T-Rex and his mommy on a day built for roaring. After roaring all day, T-Rex's mommy goes out to find some food, but little T-Rex still wants to roar. He chases a dragonfly and ends up getting lost, so the book is all about his adventure trying to find his way home. The neat part about this book is the Tag system, with all of its neat sounds as your little one reads the book. As my son presses on each dinosaur with his Tag reader, it gives him fun facts about the dinosaur and even their sounds. It's really sparked his interest in dinosaurs. As I was putting him to bed last night he said "Mommy, did you know a T-Rex's legs were as big as a grown person??" It was adorable! We love our Tag reader, and this book is an excellent addition to my son's library!

->These Tag books are amazing! This is one of our first books, and they are so fun.
My 5 year old and 2 year old both enjoy this book. It, of course, tells the story of Disney's The Princess and the Frog, but there is so much more.
Each picture has something to say. Each part of the picture says something different or plays music. You can hear the characters' voices say things in addition to the story line text.
The Tag pen has various options for reading the story. It can read through the entire book, read it a page at a time, or read it as you touch each word.
My children especially like that several of the pictures play music in this particular book.
We haven't seen the movie (since it's not out yet), so I can't say how good the story line is. It's a fun book, though.

->My 3-year old son has already spend several hours "reading" this book(the Cat in the Hat) with his Tag. Finds the story itself humorous and loves all the sounds the various items in the book makes. He's even mimicking some of the sounds.

->Gift for my 3 year old grand daughter. Uploading new books to the Tag pen is simple and easy - really well thought out! Was able to do this in minutes without using any instructions at all. Grand daughter literally spends hours using the "pen" to listen to this book and the two others we first got for her. She seems to enjoy just clicking on various pictures to hear what is said and listening to the stories. She has not had much interest in the games, but that will probably come later. We have already purchased and loaded four more books for her. I only wish I had thought of this first!

->I purchased it for a little girl whose is in kindergarden, and whose parents are a very busy and unavailable to spend time teaching her to read. One of the parents mentioned her daughter's interest in learning how to read. ->I am an elementary school teacher. Even though my family has officially banned anymore educational toys from my children's playroom (instead insisting on some "regular" toys), I just couldn't help myself. I love LeapFrog® toys. I have had my eye on the Tag since my oldest son was 2½, but finally at 4½ I feel he is ready for it.

This set includes six books: Long A, Long I, Long O, Long U, Y as a vowel, and a Review book. They are different from regular Tag books in several ways. There are no licensed characters featured in the set (e.g. Dora, Diego, SpongeBob). They are also paperback books. The biggest difference though is the educational substance of this set. With regular Tag books, a child has the option to play games (book-wide or page-wide games), have the entire page read to them (like a Story Reader), to point to the individual word and have it read, or point to any graphic on the page and have it do something. While these books have all of that, this set is additionally designed for TEACHING phonics. Each book page has three modes the child can choose from: Say It (default), Sound It, and Spell It. I will describe each:

Say It - just like regular Tag books, you put the Tag pen on an individual word and it will say it.
Sound It - (or phonics mode) sounds out individual consonants, vowels, or special grouped combinations (like "ea", "ou", "kn", etc) which are too difficult to explain efficiently in this learning format. For example: while running the Tag pen across the name Lily, it would sound out, "Llllll - ih - lllll - eeeee, Lily." You will also hear things like, "this e is silent," and other phonics rules.
Spell It - self-explanatory

->I love the Tag system, and I think it is a great learning tool for our Kindergarten homeschool curriculum. My daughter is a bit of a grumpy reader unless you get her on a great day, so it is important for me to have a variety of items like workbooks, books, DVDs, games, etc. for her to propel through reading. She likes the TAG system, and it is a great tool, but until she gets through the frustration of learning to read using phonics and sounding out words, this will be a challenge. She wants to rush, but this system is not meant for that. It is a terrific tool, but your child will not read overnight and may not "love it" for what it is - it's not playing with Matchbox cars or a Leapster, it is reading, so be patient and use in only small doses until your child's reading really takes off.

->I have not reviewed all the books I bought, but the one that came with the pen reader is loved by my grandson, He is 4 yrs old and very interested in using the pen to read. Great product. And of course he loves the case for the books and pen storage.This is a necessity to keep up with the pen.

Our son really learned words just using this system. He is a great little reader at 5. My wife is a 1st grade teacher and he knows more words than many 2nd graders. -> I just bought this piano for my little guy, and the second it was out of the box, he was ALL over it. He loves banging on all the keys while looking at himself in the mirror (a current favorite activity).

I love that it has several different settings - shapes/colors, music where it plays a different tune with each key, and music where it just plays a note with each key, and it does all of this both in English and Spanish. It also has a high and low volume setting, which is nice (other parents will know that the low volume setting is KEY!). All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend it and/or buy it as a gift.

In a very short time we have seen a significant improvement in her reading thanks to this set. The little skits in between the songs/books on the DVD do a great job teaching vowel sounds. I highly recommend this set for any pre or beginning reader. It is a great educational product that the kids actually enjoy.

I think this system works best if you watch the DVD first, and read the books together later; as the speed of some of the songs/reading is quite fast for even me to keep up with (to follow along and actually go over w/ your child). -> My 4 year old loves to watch the DVD and it helps him learn how to blend letters into words. The books are wonderful because most of the words are simple words that he can sound out and there are not too many words per page. It is a great way to work on reading skills.

->I have a 3 year old grandaughter that knows what book is the right one with the video after the second time she played with sing along read along. This is her favorite toy from christmas. I'm impressed with the brillant person[s] who put this package together. I think my grandaughter will be reading before 4.

-> The pack contains a DVD with 12 music video clips and 12 corresponding booklets. The idea is that the child picks up the songs and words and after s/he gets used to the tunes etc tries to read the booklets without the music DVD.

The stories are well planned and unfold in a specific order that progressively builds knowledge (e.g. short o, i, function of a, e, i etc.). The story content is clear and uncomplicated, with nice, big and crisp bold Arial subtitles for the song texts; the animated characters and graphics are funky, colorful and interesting but not too technicolor and visually 'loud'; the music is upbeat, in various music styles (ranging from rock to jazzy blues) and encourages singing, but it is not overwhelming and enables the child to focus on the written and spoken words.
Absolutely recommended. Will not regret!

-> This DVD is the best of both worlds, it totally entertains my children while actually educating them. The DVD is broken into 12 segments (each with it's own book to follow along). Each segment has a cute little skit and introduces a vowel sound in a fun way. The songs are very catchy (with out being annoying) and the skits are short enough to keep their attention. Both my 4 year old and 2 year old are completely mesmerized when it's on. My 4 year old likes to follow along with the books and is starting to sound out words....what more can a mom ask for?

-> I have bought quite a few different early reader type book sets and this is the first that I feel is perfect for my child. He has learned sight words, and has many of the leapfrog products so these concepts are not new to him, but he still had never really been able to cross that threshold into reading by himself until we purchased this product. He watched the videos a few times and enjoyed them. Then we moved on to the books. After working with him for a couple of weeks on reading and sounding out some of the words he began to read them on his own with my help. He really likes the stories, they're cute, funny, and the images are pleasant, they also go along quite well with the story. I am very satisfied with both the books and the video. We read them every night and my son actually told me he wanted to read to me last night! My son is three years old.

-> This is a DVD with 12 segments and a little paperback book that goes with each segment. Each of the 12 parts has a cute animated skit introducing a vowel and its sound in a memorable way. Then a song follows, with the words to the song lighting up at the bottom of the screen karaoke-style. The songs are really cute and recorded with real instruments, in styles like funk, disco, latin, punk rock, etc. We have watched this regularly for almost a year and a half and neither kids or parents are tired of it. The words of the songs are very simple but clever and the animations are cute. Our kids get up and dance to every song. The payoff comes when they look at the books and find that they remember the songs well enough to "read" the books. Mine aren't really reading yet but we got this when they were only 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 so what do you expect? The older one enjoys trying to follow along with the book while the DVD plays. Mostly we just really enjoy watching this together. We call it "Al Can!" because that is the first real song after the introduction.

-> My kids (age 20 months and 3 1/2) really enjoy watching this. The music has a great beat and at the same time I know they're learning. They haven't done the read-along w/ the books yet. They may be too young for that. Definitely a worth while purchase.

It is the only thing they will sit and watch all the way through and ask to wath it again! And I don't mind because I love the songs and have time to complete things around the house. After a couple of views, she already knew the title of the 12 books. Pretty amazing product for a beginner. It teaches and encourages my children to read. My son is enjoying it too. -> As described, it includes 12 short phonics based (with a FEW sight words(is, the, on, and, in, the, etc.))readers. There are 2 books for each vowel sound, an introductory book that introduces the characters, and a cumulative book wraps up the set. They're a good quality paper, stitched bindings. I see some reviewers are watching the dvd and then tackling the books, and whatever works is great. We are reading the books first, and then as a reward, she's "unlocked" (as her brothers do on Wii Fit) the corresponding video. Each of the 12 are listed on the menu, so we play only the ones she's "unlocked". She loves the music and dances around the living room. I agree it would be difficult to sit down to read with the books and dvd together. If it helps anyone, we're about halfway through the yellow (kindergarten) Hooked on Phonics book, and this is right on target - sight words from cards we're using, and she can sound out all of the words, but the video afterward adds an extra motivator.

I was looking for simple books that use only words that have the most common letter sounds. words that once your child learns the phonetic abc's, they can start sounding out words. we loved the leapfrog letter and word factory and wanted to utilize what our child had learned from it. but even the most simple books out there (that I found) used more advanced letter sounds and combinations. this product has 12 books that use words that can be sounded out from the basic 26 letter sounds, with the exception of maybe 2 words. that in itself is great. then add to that, that they have a dvd and songs that go along with it. the words light up on the screen as they are being said. and there are tiny skits regarding the short vowel sounds also. very educational. yet, fun and nice simple but entertaining funny animation. some kids' videos annoy me, but this one is fun. not as beautiful as say, word world. more simple, but just great. the songs are great. very short, very simple, but perfect for what they are trying to achieve. I am so happy that I found this product.
